Janine Ewan - Chief Executive
Janine is an Aucklander, however has lived many years in other parts of New Zealand and overseas. She lives locally and has two grown children who at this stage live mostly overseas.
Janine's background is in nursing. Having trained at Greenlane Hospital, she was employed as the first specialist nurse in stomatherapy and infection control. Many life and professional experiences followed from volunteering in a fertility clinic while living in Fiji; manufacturing clothing for hotel boutiques in Rarotonga, to managing her own graphic design and labelling company.
Her passion for palliative care has been realised in the past 15 years, initially working for Mercy Hospice Auckland. It was while working there that she was asked to spend some time at Eastern Bays Hospice in its infancy, to get a day programme up and running.
Her clinical knowledge and experience around the palliative care of people living at home with serious illness has enabled her to identify their needs and lead the development of the many services now found within 'dove house'.
Subsequently Janine became an employee of Eastern Bays Hospice and describes her satisfaction at seeing a progressive, professional service delivered by a skilled and sensitive team, which encourages the embodiment of wellbeing amongst their patients, making a very real difference to people's lives.

Mary Hearn - Hospice Shop Manager
Mary comes to us with 15 years in Retail management, (jewellery, apparel and home and gifts) with a previous life spent in the banking sector. Prior to that, Mary's role was mainly as wife, Mum and volunteer for 16 years, first for the Plunket Society and subsequently on the Board of Trustees at her children's school. She found retail a good 'interim' position when the children were growing up, but enjoyed it so much she decided to make it a career choice.
Mary is passionate about retailing and excited about the enormous potential that both Apirana and Mayfair stores afford. She believes wholeheartedly in the Hospice philosophy and understands the valuable contribution the volunteers make to the organisation and is looking forward to "picking their brains" regarding pre-loved goods. Working collaboratively with the Board, staff of dove house, and volunteers alike, Mary believes will lead to even greater success going forward.
Watch this space - some exciting developments will be happening for the stores in the near future, and the community will enjoy shopping even more at our Apirana and Mayfair locations.

Warren Finlay - Warehouse Manager
Warren is a kiwi and has lived most of his life in Auckland. Married with two adult offspring, Warren and his wife Marie are now empty nesters.
Warren started his working life in the engineering and production side of the business world and he then advanced into management. Warren soon succumbed to the great kiwi dream to be self emplyed and 20 years ago bought his first second hand shop in Onehunga. It was soon decided that expansion was necessary and Warren and Marie moved their highly successful Cornwall traders to the more vibrant suburb of Newmarket. There they traded quite happily until they were made an offer they could not refuse for their premises. Rather than relocate after 20 years it was decided that it was time for a change.
During these years Warren honed his skills and formed a sound knowlege of retailing as well as a good undersatnding of the world of second hand and antique dealing. It is these skills that he will utilise to help and enhance the already brilliant job done by volunteers at the Hospice shop.
Warren is very excited about the development of the Apirana Store and Warehouse. The expansion will bring an improved layout and 40% more floor space will add significantly to the appeal. Warren is also looking to promote E. retailing by introducing our own sales sight, and other inititives include holding garage sales with local community groups. His aim is that we become the first choice for the community in recycled and second hand goods.

Sherril has worked for the Hospice since June 1997 - starting in a small internal office in the old Adventist Hospital building (now Grace Joel). There have been many changes in that time, all of which Sherril has found stretching and challenging.
Sherril has always chosen to work in establishments where people and their well being are the focus. This emphasis is what Hospice is about and she continue's to enjoy being part of the team at dove house.
