Volunteers are a crucial part of Eastern Bays Hospice and make a real difference to the services the hospice can offer. If you are interested in making any enquiries about volunteer work please contact Christine Hawke at the Hospice

How many volunteers work for EBH?

  • Approximately 200 volunteers work for the hospice in total with about 100 of these working in the hospice shops.

What are some of the things volunteers do?

  • Assist in running our Day programme
  • Provide transport to and from the hospice
  • Reception duties
  • General maintenance such as cleaning and gardening
  • Help with fundraising events
  • Shop assistance and support
  • Trained therapists for home visits
  • Visit homes to provide companionship, respite, shopping etc
  • Provide a biography service

Is there a training programme for volunteers?

Yes, we run an orientation training and ongoing education and support meetings.

Next Training

Starting April 2007 for 4 Wednesday mornings and 2 Monday mornings.
